Saint Levant Alpharetta Concert reviews
Kind of disappointed...
At the Fillmore a couple years ago, I had seen Saint Levant and really, really enjoyed the show. A pretty big fan afterwards, I became, but I only knew a few of their songs before I went. They were fun and energetic, and you could tell that they loved what they were doing and were extremely passionate about their music. In the middle, I especially loved that they took some time out to do an acoustic set. I think that they are talented musicians, but after the show I saw at the Ogden, they may have lost some of that passion they originally had for performing. Justin, the lead singer, kept bringing up political issues involving custody battles that had to do with his own personal life, which was fine, but kind of took away from the music. He seemed distracted or something. It's obvious that the passion they used to have for creating music has now been channeled elsewhere. The sound quality wasn't as good as it was for the Fillmore show, and they didn't play an acoustic set, which had been my favorite part of the other show. I'm glad that Justin loves his daughter so much and wants to change the world.
I Am Dynamite was really good, especially for a two-piece band. They owned the stage and put on one heck of a show, but their lyrics weren't exactly mind-blowing (just poppy fluff... completely redundant with short choruses they repeated way too many times). They made me feel as if I had gotten my money's worth before Saint Levant even went on. I only caught a few of Ashleigh Stone's songs, but she was really good as well.
